Fat32, 500 gb hdd.
Just got a 500 GB USB Hard Drive. I reformatted it to FAT32 and it says " No songs", But they are all in MP3 format and my computer will read them. I'm not sure what formats the Fit has to have, anyone have a solution to this problem, or am I stuck with it?
Thanks
Thanks
oh and as a side note... you are NOT going to want to navigate 500GB's worth of Music. I get annoyed with 8GB of Music, especially when I'm trying to get to Toad the Wet Sprocket or U2 (or some other end of the alphabet group). i'd get a flash drive or an ipod for playlists.

Thanks for the response. Maybe we can figure this out
Try it in a TV or DVD Player (or other non-computer device that will read MP3) to see if there are compatibility issues with it elsewhere.
Some people have had luck with partitioning Drives. Maybe pick a Partition size that will be big enough for you music (60GB) and make that the primary partition. Then use the 2nd partition for larger files like videos, etc...

edit: Walmart... ugh... I just threw up a little.

Ugh, now it says unsupported. I guess I will just return it and get a bigger flash drive instead, unless you can point me in the direction of a HDD that has been known to be compatible with the Honda Fit. I can order it offline if need be.
RadioShack has a 32GB Sandisk Flash Drive for $23. Buy $50 worth of stuff and you get free shipping and $10 back according to their website.

partition it and then try, maybe then It will work..
I think there is a upper limit to what the HU can read...
I use a old 80Gig Hd with my car, no problems whatsoever.. But like someone said, its a PITA to navigate it with the stock HU, I am myself contemplating to move to a Carputer instead..

The car's USB port doesn't put out enough power for the drive. If it is an USB 3.0 HDD the odds are it will not work as they usually require over 500mA of power to run. USB 2.0 only goes up to 500mA and this is what the car puts out.
