Metal Grinding/Gravel sound when car moving off

Anyone knows what could be the problem if my car has this metal grinding / gravel sound when moving off from a stop and it doesnt always happen. The sound seem to be coming from the engine area.

Is it just once, when you first drive off after starting the car?

It happens mostly when the car comes to a complete stop and move off. Not only when i first drive off after starting the car. But it seems to happen more when the car is cold. The sound lasted about less then a second.

How many miles on your car? Have the brakes been serviced? Check the rotors for grooves.

63K miles on my car. Had only changed my brakes fluid. No servicing on rotor or capliers.Had only changes the brake pads. Had check the rotors for grooves, there is alittle grooves. How to consider whether the grooves are bad.

This happens to me a lot specially in the winter. Check the brake rotor shields for some rocks/debris stuck in between. That may cause it.

If you have the M/T it sounds like the throw out bearing may be starting to wear out or the clutch disk is worn down to the rivits.

Just a guess as I can't hear the sound myself ................................

is your car a/t? normally happens when you shift it from P to D? or to sports mode? but not happening during short stops, traffic, or when shifting from N to D?

Will check my brake rotors shield.

My car is A/T. It doesnt sound normal to me as before i went for my servicing at 61k miles i didnt have this this sound. It happens usually at R to D or during traffic stops.

Could a bad drive belt give this sound out ?

Jazzivtec it doesnt sound correct to me as my vehicle has been on 100k KM with no sound and after a servicing this sound came.

I will bring it down to the servicing agent to double check for me soon.

Finally found out the problem for the sound it was the wrong drive belt used. After changing to the Honda OEM drive belt the car feels smooth no more grinding / gravel sound.

Did they do the fix for free? They should always use OEM parts on a vehicle less then 100k miles (160k kilometers)
