Awful Skreeching sound from brakes
Twice in the past 2 months...I get in my car to drive away and hear a horrible skreeching sound coming from the front wheels as I drive. The skreeching is so loud folks actually look my way with a "whoa, what's up w/ that guy's car" look.
Both times....it turns out a small rock got stuck between the metal splash guard and the back of the front brake disk--the rock was rubbing against the disk. Each time I had to push the splash guard back just enough to let the rock fall out.
I dunno...maybe the lava rocks in Hawaii are magnetic.

i got some kinda sound coming out of mine, maybe i should check back there. it sounds like i got warped rotors, its a kind of scratching sound whenever my car is rolling. when i brake it goes away.
oh and also theres always that rust screeching sound in the mornings.

The high-pitched skreeching I heard was like fingernails on a chalkboard nasty...and loud. I didn't want to chance driving too far...cuz it wouldn't stop!...and I didn't want to make things worse if it was something else.
haha...put da lava rocks back...I thanked God everytime I found it was a small rock stuck behind the brake disk (I was so relieved), so I should be covered.

Hah! I think u might be right! I think we may have bent the shield forward when we installed the camber bolts and adjusted the rotors. I'm gonna bend the shield farther back tomorrow. (Gw) Thanks!

I got the same problem driving through a canyon recently. It was soooo loud and annoying!
Got it home and found grain of rice sized rock between the rotor shield and hub knuckle! It was pushing the shield against the rotor itself!
Funny thing is that it was less than a week after replacing front pads and experiencing that annoying brake tabs getting in touch with the rotors. It was entirely different type of sound.

It happened to me too! about 900 miles into a 1,200 mile road trip we stopped to eat. When we started again, it sounded like the exhaust was dragging. I got out, had my wife pull forward and tracked it t the driver's side front wheel. Luckily the rotor was cool from sitting, but as soon as I pulled at the shield, the noise stopped...... I had been driving up my parents 1/8 mi gravel road, but that was 300 miles before. I'm guessing some little rock just fell when I stopped to eat......
