MPG? Whats your average?
Hi everyone - I got a 2013 Fit last weekend. I drive a lot (250 miles/wk) for work, and I've taken a couple short road trips, so I'm at about 500 miles. So far, I'm averaging a little over 40 MPG. My drives are primarily rural highway.
Someone on the Yaris discussion board also had a Fit and said the mileage was much more equitable than the SPA ratings suggest. He got around 40 in his Fit.
I am curious what others are getting. And, if anyone else is doing largely rural highway, I'd be interested in your MPG.
Should I expect this to continue or drop some as the car ages?
PS I'm thrilled. The reason almost went Yaris was MPG ratings!

Interesting, everyone. I assume long commutes (60 miles one-way) with only maybe 12 stop lights and only 3 turns helps me a lot. I don't drive too aggressively. And, clearly 95% of my drive is highway. The dealer told me to expect mid 30s - really, my salesman has been amazed that I can get this kind of mileage. I use cruise control most of the trip, too - so speed stays very consistent - and, yea, I do stay in the limits of the law.
It is interesting that there is that much variation between drivers, though. What % of everyone's driving is city/hwy? Is anyone using Fuelly to track? I would "friend" you if you give me your name on their. Thanks!

800 miles of around town and a bit of highway averaging 32.8 mpg. Probably going to get worse as I'm slowly realizing I need to keep the revs up to have any kind of power (and I'm out of any kind of break in period).

I'm on the other end. I average about 28-29mpg. Highest I've ever gotten was 33, but that's because my daily commute is less than 15 miles a day. I hit high 36+ every now and then when I have to go somewhere "far" compared to my usual routine.
There is a massive thread in the Eco forum. I get about 27 city and 37 highway but that's with so cal traffic which can be infuriating. Without the lost tourists and general stupidity of other drivers I bet I'd be getting 10% better mileage. The pic in my avatar was from 150 mile highway trip, 55mph with cc on. I just stayed behind a trucker the entire way.
As I am the only person that is ever in my car, I removed all the extraneous seats and noticed about 2-3 more MPG. Over the last 3 months I have averaged 44.1 MPG. Mostly rural highway, plenty of stoplights and traffic though. I love this car.

obc shows 30.5-30.6mpg for me. but i drive pretty hard and only surface roads over 99% of the time. 30mpg on regular gas is plenty for me.
when i took the car out for a 180 mile one way trip, it was at 37-38mpg.

2012 Fit Sport A/T here. The highest I've ever gotten on a fill up was 38 MPG and the lowest ever was 32 MPG (lots of idling and horsing around a little). Routinely I average 34 - 35 MPG. These figures are by the readout on the dash and verified by calculations when filling up. The dash readout seems to be very accurate, reading about 0 to 1 MPG high every time. My driving is usually about 80% interstate at 70 MPH and about 20% city.

Good to learn the dash MPG is correct-- My Maxima's was 15% high so didn't even consider using the Fit's (I use Road Trip app on my phone).
Weight must be a big factor- they are so light to begin with and performance is so markedly hurt with any kind of load - anybody ever experiment with how it affects MPG?

~33 mpg if i'm being a hoon and ~40 mpg if I take it easy, so what's that?
36.5 mpg?
I went for a good 4 months really taking it easy and just seeing what kind of mileage I could get out of the car and hit 39-40 mpg pretty consistently just by staying under 70 and keeping momentum. This is a 35 mile busy freeway commute with traffic pretty much the whole way sometimes.
I got over it pretty quickly and just drive however I want to now (calculated average is about right, 35-36 mpg doing this).

For now, I'm pursuing high MPG on lightly-traveled hilly rural roads. Last fillup was 50.81MPG for a total average of 48.49.
My display has been lower than math at the pump. Last fill-up it was 12.6 percent low. I need more fill-ups for more measurements, but I won't put in less than a half tank.
Very interesting! It sounds like my rural 4 lane (w enough law enforcement to keep me in-line) may be my MPG friend. Set the cruise, enjoy the music, get to work on time. The more MPG, the further the mileage checks go, the more road trips I CA afford. I appreciate the info. Can't wait to hit 50 MPG, but it may not be til spring. Thanks!
