The faster you get up to speed the more fuel you can save cruising.

I mean, to a limit.

Say out of VTEC and don't go WOT, try to keep throttle low. It becomes second nature. Honestly just drive it how it feels good to you. I find if I drive naturally the car responds well. I don't do anything out of the ordinary and no hypermiling.

I've gotten 35.5mpg on the first 6 tanks in my new 2013 base Fit. 1,530 miles so far. My mpg read-out is about 1% on the optimistic side. I did a long drive the week before last. I was getting nearly 50 mpg on the freeway buy staying about 2-3 car lengths behind big rigs and by keeping it at 60 the whole way.

My commute can be pretty brutal. It's 21 miles and it can vary between about 25 minutes and 60 minutes. Those miserable stop-and-go days can kill my average.

around 30 mpg in city driving .. that too because i am lowered and roads in india arent very good so i have to slow down.

and around 40 mpg highway driving ..
maximum i ever achieved is 42 mpg.

no engine mods.. just a free flow exhaust to get a deeper sounding fit.

I use an IOS application called "Gas Cubby" for tracking mileage and service costs of the vehicle. Averaging 33.0 MPG since I owned the vehicle. This is a Honda Fit Sport automatic, 1997, with 97k miles. Subwoofer and sound deadening are extra weight items, but no impact on mileage seen. Best was 42 mpg, all interstate, no stops.

My 2011 was getting about 33 mpg... so far the 2013 is at about 31, but tomorrow will be the end of my first week with it, so it may be too soon to really tell.
