Arrow Using Navigation as Monitor for Back-up Camera

Has anyone been successful at using the navigation screen as the backup camera monitor?

Thanks!

I don't think too many Fit owners have done it.. if you want to do it on the OEM nav, you'll need a Navtool, or something similar. But there's mixed reviews about that...

check this thread for more info:

The new version of Navtool, does away with that step, and the install is much easier.

After your done intalling the Navtool, you can install a game system, DVD, etc and use the inputs on the Navtool. Here's the same guy's DIY on the back up camera DIY: Add Backup Camera for Reverse Camera Display on Factory Nav Screen - Honda CRZ Forum: Honda CR-Z Hybrid Car Forums

One of the members in that thread said the unit/install was a nightmare and decided to take it out, and replace the Nav with an aftermarket unit that does those features (probably the best choice).

Curious why you would need a back-up camera on a car as small as the Fit.

^^ I've heard that question before. I don't think it's the size of the car at all. A bus or a fit- the more you can see the better. I manage without one but recently I'm having a harder time actually turning my head to the extremes to confirm all areas behind me are clear. So now it's a physical limitation. I won't do anything for the Fit but my next car you bet- BU cam for sure.

I have the jvc kwnt 700 navi system with a video aux in jack. It's pretty easy to run the aux cable from the back of the navi to the inside of the trunk hatch. You might need to drill a small hole behind the liscense plate area to run the cable into the camera. As for the camera itself, I just got mine from best buy.

I have the Clarion NX501. I mounted the camera inside the car and then ran the wire through the center mount stop light opening and fed it through the flexible rubber wire guide that goes between the top of the hatch on the left side, and down into the cavity where all the tail light wiring is located.

Thanks for the replies guys! The last 2 cars I've owned have had a backup camera and I've gotten pretty used to it. Once you use one for a while it's hard to do without,
