Help: Radio auxiliary input stops working
Help: Radio auxiliary input stops working
Hello all,
I was listening to some music through my laptop connected to the Aux input of the radio. As I was running out of battery, I plugged my laptop in through the lighter adapter power and I heard a loud noise coming from the speakers, then no sound.
I tested the sound output of my laptop and this is not the problem.
I tested the 3.5mm audio cable and it also is not faulty.
So, it is coming from the Aux. I might have created a ground loop by connecting the laptop to the car power adapter connected to the lighter adapter.
Do you know of the remedy?
Further (another topic), what is the best upgade for a radio (maybe with the GPS unit) for my Fit.
Fit is 2009 (made in Japan), for the US market, Sport trim, manual.
THANKS!
Hydro.
PS. bought a trailer for the fit and no problem to haul it (up to 1000 lbs).

Try plugging in something else via the aux jack (mp3 player, phone, ipod, transistor radio) and see if it plays through the car speakers. Toggle the aux switch (it may think there's a signal on the USB connection for some reason). If the radio's aux connection doesn't work I'd try a "reboot" by disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes. Have the radio security code handy.
I don't know what a ground loop is. The aux power connection power supply should have protected the laptop from over/under voltage but it could have caused a transient that may have altered the audio output to the radio. (I just made up that last bit but it sounded cool.)
