My 2009 Honda Fit has electrical? issue? ideas of the problem?
Hello fellow forum members!
I'm hoping someone might be able to give me insight into the issues I've been having recently with my 2009 automatic fit w/navigation.
A while back I noticed my headlights dim momentarily, depending on A/C usage, and sometimes while idling. From reading other threads, that's normal.
The second part, however, is not. Just last week, the power started flickering. AKA the navigation system would turn off then back on, the Engine Power Steering light would flash for a moment, then turn off. It seems to happen randomly, but consistently happens when I put my car into reverse AFTER I have driven for a while (ie not when I leave a parking spot, but when I am coming home from an outing and turn around in a parking pad). If it's due to being put in reverse, the steering wheel gets really stiff if I'm trying to turn it.
Any idea what would cause this?
Thank you for your input!

you need to pop your hood and look at your battery terminals. verify that they are clean and tight.
doublecheck the battery ground wire that bolts around the side of the radiator support.
if you find these in perfect shape, have your battery and alternator tested. if they test good, go to another spot to have them tested.
I have had garbage piece of crap alternators test good, yet still perform bad. the test needs to be able to put an actual LOAD on each component to verify functional performance
EDIT I do remember helping a member recently with their steering problems. The fix was as easy as unplugging the EPS motor and cleaning the connector and reconnecting it.
I recommend bulb grease, aka dielectric grease. it is a good anti-corrosion/contamination procedure
