Exclamation Maint code A 13 @ 70k replace transmission fluid!!!! ding ding ding ding

The elusive 3 code appeared today at 70K on my 09 Fit. It sees a daily commute that for the first 3 years of its life was 46 miles of Atlanta freeway daily. Followed by a year of teleworking where it saw mostly the garage and grocery getter duty. Followed by a year of stop and go suburban ATL surface streets.

Conjecture by Fitfreak denizens had placed this elusive milestone beyond 100K (including myself). It's interesting to note where it showed up. Beyond that I can't say what the metaphysical import portends.

Having just changed it (for the 3rd time) at 61K (yes I'm a closet ATFaholic) I'm torn between going all severe service or going off-plan. Your feedback is needed.

When I had a '94 Accord, I used to change the ATF every 10 to 12K miles. It's so easy to change and so cheap so why not?

You already change the fluid regularly? I wouldn't worry about it then.

I'm not inclined to change it till it's been in there 30K (90K on the clock). I think it's interesting that it popped up at 70,800 this weekend. Most people say it doesn't come on until after 100K. I wonder if we're paying attention...

Just wondering:

What was the color of the trans fluid on the previous changes?

Any type of metal bits on the drain plug?

Ever had a transmission fluid flush?

Color normal, perhaps a bit darker red.

Yes there was a coating of metallic grit on the magnetic plug

Never had a transmission flush (don't plan on it).
