Get a Civic,

Fit's have high resale value, so you won't be out much cash, and a Civic is quieter, more powerful, nicer inside, has about the same fuel economy and is a Honda (since you're a Honda guy).

 

Ahh, already have two in the family (one 1997, one 2010) =( - I like the 2009-2011 models most. Don't like the current gen much =/, but the type R.. DROOOOL

 

The GE Fit is a damn reliable and versatile vehicle but if you aren't feeling it you might as well try some other stuff. Maybe test drive a VW Golf if you want more power and interior refinement?

 

Subaru reliable? They built Scion's FR-S, and it's a crap car.

Note: I have never owned a Subaru.

 

If you absolutely need the automatic, I don't suppose you've tried driving the 2015 Fit? The CVT is very smooth and I prefer it to driving my '02 Odyssey with similar 'automatic' down shifting abruptness that you complained about.

If it was me, for a GD or GE generation Fit, I would definitely own the manual transmission, however, for the 2015 Fit, I chose the CVT automatic and have been very happy with it. And this is from someone that generally hates automatics.

 

I have had both an auto and manual 2013 honda fit.. i feel my auto fit just lacked so much fun and traded it in for an s2000 and then a year later im back in a manual fit and dont regret it one bit.
The fit is so practica and maybe its the auto transmission that really is killing it for you..keep in mind I had a 93 sol before the fit lol

If i was you id sell the car and buy a manual one or go test some at the dealer,

And yes please stay away from subi that would totally defeat the purpose of the fit in terms of mileage and value/quality of the car. My bf had an 08 STI so I can speak from experience lol

 

and yeah i wouldnt get into another payment. Esp on the new fits, i think they are junk in my opinion.

 

I think the problems that you have with the platform can't be fixed with any suggestions

It's a subcompact and every problem you listed comes with this class of vehicle. If you trade it in now for a Civic your problems might be solved

Realisticallly what can you afford if you trade in the Fit?

That sounds like a good price, thanks for the update. You Fit Sport was similar to my Sport, except mine is blue with dealer-installed Katzkin leather seats.

 

That's a great price. Now I'm half tempted to sell my Fit.

I have a 2011 Vortex Blue Sport, it has just over 63k miles. I have recently been taking to dealerships about trading my Fit in for another 4wd. There is a lot of good advice in this topic, most of which is now leading me to rethink my position on trading my Fit.

In 63K miles I have had to take it in only 1 time, other than routine maintenance or tires , and that was for loose spark plugs, still not sure how they came loose. Other than that my fit has been a great vehicle, and really does anything that I need to, anything thing else I can borrow my dad's truck.

This is actually one of the most fun vehicles I have ever owned or driven, it is really fun in the twisties.

Well, when we first had our GE, we were parked in the mall and there was a fit aria next to us in the parking lot with a couple trying to fit in huge paintings in the trunk...which they can't so they settled with just tying them down and leaving the trunk half open with the paintings sticking out.

On the other hand, we just bought a full size refrigerator, pulled down one rear and one front seat and just slid the whole thing in, closed the rear door. No problem! :P

 

Yes. Subaru is reliable.. Its the people that tune it up way too much...thats why it breaks...

 

This thread has just strengthened my reasoning for never selling my GE fit. I knew since the moment I walked onto the dealership this was the car I wanted.

The moral of this whole thread is don't buy a car your not 100% sure about. Test drive it, look up reviews, check out the problems and make sure it's what you want. Measure twice and cut once.
