roof rack
What's the best way to add roof racks to the 2013 Fit? To haul bicycles. Yes, I know that a hitch with a rack in the back may not affect MPG's as much, but still want to consider a roof rack...
Yakima is very proud of their roof system. The Q connectors are EXPENSIVE!
Thanks.

Hello Perry,
I have a roof rack system (Thule) that I bought used from Craigslist. The bike racks were some third party brand. I wish I would have just invested in Thule bike racks as well, because one of my bikes flew off while I was driving on the freeway.
Also, another benefit of a roof rack is the ability to add cargo boxes, Kayak racks, et cetera. but at the cost of losing MPG.

You can do a search with the keyword roof rack or bike rack. There are many threads. As for myself, I like Yakima but they are $$. I had on my Altima but with my new Fit, I am just going to haul the two bikes inside the Fit.

I use a a thule for my kayak. Honestly, I didn't really lose any mpg with my rack and even with the kayak it's negligible (best tank of gas was a fully loaded car with the kayak up top). Yeah the racks aren't cheap but they are an investment. the bike attachment will always hold a bike and transfer to other racks. (the thule racks at least) are modular so even if I change cars, I should be able to get away with only changing a few parts on it to make it work on a future car.
