Question Honda Fit roof rack for road bike

Hello, I'm a proud new Fit owner and am interested in installing either a Thule or Yakima roof rack for my road bike. Anyone have any issues doing the same thing on your vehicle? All tips and advice are certainly welcome. I'd love to see any photos with Fit's installed with any roof rack. Much appreciated.

rnorma1 has a Thule rack on his Fit. Here's the link to his post.

Isn't the idea of buying a Fit is so that you can put the bike INSIDE the car?

My roadbike costs $3K and I never put it on a roof rack or a rear rack. I always put it inside the vehicle...just being anl I guess.

I have a yakima kit i bought off ebay and use it regularly but if i can put the bike in the car i do. sometimes i have other things in the car that i don't want to take out so it's nice to have the option of both.

I have the Thule rack for hauling long stuff home from Home Depot, etc.
Sold my Santa Cruz mountain bike, but if I still had it, would carry it inside the car. I would not want someone to tear it off the car, or to scrub bugs off the bike. My lowest gas mileage was 27 mpg with the rack mounted. Best qss 38 mpg, with the rack off the car. With both a rack and a bike on the roof, mileage must suffer even more.

Agreed, and I probably should have mentioned that in my original post. I definitely know what you mean. I have not tried this route as of yet. I've read posts elsewhere detailing how to use a fork mounted bracket to a 2x4 to stabilize the front wheel. Any thoughts? I just dont want either of my precious babies (FIT or my Trek Madone) getting hurt.

I have recently installed a Yakima roof rack on my new Fit, am getting ready to give complete instructions on this forum. I am a very particular furniture maker; my job came out looking & functioning like factory equipment. First problem with forum was how to include pix that I took.
