Question A fit for roof racks?

I want to buy a Fit but only if it will take a roof rack like Thule or Yakima. These companies, at least in the US, don't know. But since the Jazz has been around for a while, I'm hoping someone can tell me if they know of after-market racks being used on the Fit. Thanks!

As long as there have been no roofline changes made to the USA Fit, Thule already has a kit for it. You will need either the Thule Rapid System or the Thule Traditional System. Rapid parts and numbers are: Gutterless Foot Pack (part #750), Bars - 120cm (part #761 for square, #861 for aero), Rapid Fitting Kit (part #1312).

Installation instructions can be found Here

Why don't you throw your mtn bike in the back? That's what I'm gonna do.

Roof racks are too rich for my blood.

A friend of mine had her mountain bike on a roof rack, and went to pull into her garage. Bad idea.

Sometimes, you have to carry too much other stuff (people, gear, luggage) with you, that you don't have the option of carrying your bike *in* the car.

Since I'm height-limited by the parking deck at my vacation spot, I'm looking to go with a hidden hitch and a hitch-mounted bike carrier... assuming (a) Hidden Hitch will make one for the Fit, and (b), it won't void my warranty.

Confession time - I pulled into a parking ramp with Kayaks on the roof of my CRV in Ann Arbor. Ouch!

Well, if we're giving confessions...
I once was using the company van to transport construction materials to a volunteer work site, and when I returned, I made a wrong turn in the parking deck, and wedged the van under one of the roof supports. The sprinkler went right through the roof!

Now, we all know why the mail room clerk always went "left", when he turned into the parking deck, and never turned "right."

Ah, but the burning question remains: will they offer those accessories in the USA and Canada?

Thule do the rapid-fit system in the UK. You can pick up around three or four other makes as well.

I will bring this thread back from the dead. If you are looking for a cost effective way to carry two snowboards on the outside of your car without having to leave the roof rack on all the time, I would check out this rack. WinterRacks.com - your source for winter window racks.... Pretty sweet product.

I have recently purchased a 14 foot dory row boat, which I anticipated getting at the time I installed my Yakima roof rack. The boat weighs about 100 lbs. There is nothing I would change about the roof rack design or installation I did. I now have built a hoist in my carport that straps to the bars of the rack & then lifts the bars & the boat off of the car roof up into the rafters. Can't attach pic, so if you want to see one or more> wilfredlemon@hotmail.com. IJ
