12 volt line in hatch area
Hi all,
I've searched, sorry, can't find the answer.
I'm installing a power adapter like what you'd plug a cigarette lighter into (except not); has to go in the hatch area. Didn't look like any wires back there power on anything full-time
Any suggestions for a place I can pull 12 volts?
Gen 2, 2010, btw.
Thanks you.

The hatch area light is not powered all the time, but only when the hatch is open (or was recently opened). I'm not aware of any constantly powered 12V lines in the cabin in back of the dome light.
If you're using this outlet when the rear seats are folded down, it might be appropriate to install it in the rear part of the center console, which would be a pretty easy wire run to the lighter plug circuit or some other appropriate place. Otherwise, I think you're stuck with running another wire. I think, if I remember correctly from the parts diagrams, that the main wiring harness runs along the sills of the doors, presumably under the plastic trim pieces there.
