2013 Fit losing power while driving

Hello,

This is my first time posting in these forums. My hope is that someone here may be able to explain a problem I've been having with my 2013 fit.

I have this problem where I'll be driving for a few minutes when the car will suddenly lose power to the radio and to the power steering. It can be really scary because it sometimes happens while I'm trying to turn. There have been a few posts out there about similar issues. Most say it could be a coil pack issue? I bought this car brand new 4 years ago. I did have to change the battery a few weeks in to owning the car but since then I've had no other problems.

I recorded what happens to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Mike

Check the battery for the correct electrolyte level in the cells, disconnect the battery cables and clean any corrosion on the battery posts and the cable clamps. and reconnect the clamps making sure they're tight.
If no luck, have the battery and alternator checked.
If they're ok, the power steering motor may be bad.

Thanks, I will give the everything a good clean and report back.

No relation to coil packs.

As ski said, check all battery connections. Also follow negative cable off the battery to check the other end. It could be a bad ground on the negative side of the cable.

I don't believe it's the electric power steering either since the radio is simultaneously stopping as well. I suspect a bad ground.

Could also be the main relay, the fuel pump relay or the ignition switch!

My wife is having this problem now. Will be looking into it tomorrow probably.

Update:
I noticed PS icon come up a few weeks ago. Not much else. Wife apparently noticed last week but didn't mention it. Today she called me saying radio flickered and PS icon and check engine came on briefly.

I went to where she was (lots of crazy winding roads BTW!!) with an extra battery just in case -- problem was loose Negative connection.

Hope this helps someone.
