GE and GK Muffler Differences

Alright, so I bought a Bisimoto Pulse Chamber exhaust that is made for a 2015+ Fit and wanted to see if it would fit my 09 Sport. In the process I have taken pictures and will continue to take pictures as I progress toward Bisi-Bliss! I do have a sound clip of a no muffler start up but will add one with the pulse chamber installed also.

Initial Fit

My initial test fit had 2 main problems:

1.) The pipe is so large that it hits the rear beam so the flange does not line up. I think I can fix this issue if I raise my car up (I don't want to do this) or if the pipe diameter was smaller. Even if raising the car allowed the flange to line up it would still have an issue fitting.

2.) The exhaust hanger is not in the correct spot. Due to the muffler sitting so far back, the hanger is not near the stock hanger locations. The hanger has already been modified to fit a 2019 Sport and needs to go back to its original orientation for a GE. This will make it closer to the original mounting area but it still needs to be extended. As you can see in the picture it is pretty close but needs to be extended.

Thoughts and Plan

I would like to make a short extension pipe for 2 reasons:

1.) I do not want to raise the car any so an extension allows me to clear the axle with room to spare and not have to go up in drive height.

2.) I have a theory that part of what makes the Pulse Chamber drone is the fact that the sound is trapped under the car. All that noise is getting stuck under the trunk area and inside the rear bumper so the noise resonates into the cabin. UnFitRick did a great job at reducing the noise with sound insulating material but I am curious if extending the muffler out to the end of the bumper will help.

Once the extension is made I can either modify the existing bracket or cut it off and weld on a new one. I will update when I have made some progress good or bad.

Here are more comparison pictures of a stock GE Sport muffler and the Bisimoto Muffler. As you can see the parts with the flange on them are very similar.

Unfortunately no Work got really busy along with adulting and kids but it is starting to slow down a bit at the moment. I hope to get back to it in the up coming weeks. I have the extra pipe I need along with the flanges and gaskets just need more time in the day.
