Five years and 100,000 miles ago, I handed my dealer that TSB and they said they would need a $100 diagnosis fee before they could act on it. They confirmed it was blower and relay and then quoted me $600 to change it, no good-will I had "such high mileage". (As if mileage has anything to do with this problem). They seemed surprised when I said, "nevermind, I'll do it myself" and replaced both blower and resistor for less than $200 from hondaautomotiveparts.com.

If a dealer is still good-willing this repair, that's a dealer I'd use for service.

The blower has been trouble-free since I replaced it.

Just bought my 2011 Honda Fit Sport today with 108,000 miles on it, and it had this problem. Thanks to you all, I felt confident buying the car, even with this problem, since I read how easy it is to fix.

I checked prices at both RockAuto.com and Amazon, and not only was Amazon cheaper and had helpful reviews, but I also didn't have to pay shipping! If anyone else is interested, I purchased:
  1. Schnecke Front AC Heater Blower Motor (
    Amazon Amazon
    ) - around $37
  2. PartsSquare HVAC Heater Blower Motor Resistor (
    Amazon Amazon
    ) - around $11
I installed them tonight, and they work perfectly so far! Very exciting and saved so much money. It's also super easy to do the installation yourself. I know very little about cars, but all this requires is a Phillips screwdriver, and a T20 torx screwdriver. I actually used a flat head screwdriver, instead of the T20, because I didn't have a T20, but it messed up the screw heads pretty bad, so I don't recommend doing that. Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery beforehand. And make sure you have the security code to your radio. I didn't know I needed it, until I got locked out. Thankfully, the previous owner kept it in the glove box.

I used this
as reference for the repairs and found it very helpful. Note you can easily replace the cabin air filter during this repair, and get it all done at once. Mine was very dirty, so that was a great recommendation by the YouTube author.

Replaced motor and resistor/Problem recurring

First time post, long time reader. Thanks to all of you who get in there and toil so my repairs are that much more fluid. After replacing the two parts on my ‘09 @ 149K, I’ve got the blower blaster again after around a month (only spd4). Has anyone replaced the replacements and found that a better product works? I bought the two most affordable parts on rockauto.

Pulling them out to test the motor later this week and see if it’s potentially binding/causing more draw.

✌️

I purchased a blower motor and resistor from Amazon for $54. Hopefully, that fixes it. It is a well used 2011 Honda fit with 178,000 miles, so no complaints! I love how easy they make it to replace.
