What is the purpose of this tiny hose/tube? It sits between the battery and the air filter box. The open ended hose connects to the engine and that's it. BTW, it's a 2009 Fit auto.

Update: I squeezed it and red liquid that seems like auto transmission fluid came out... Maybe an overflow tube ?

breather hose for the transmission.

Most honda automatics have these. I *THINK* its for venting excess pressure inside the tranny.

If you squeezed it and fluid came out, but doesnt come out under driving, you are fine Im sure.

Just clean that area up if you made a mess when squeezing it, then observe it after a few driving trips. If its leaving fluid, call the service department of a honda dealership and ask them if its normal.

I certainly dont know any of this for certain. These are my guesses
