Fit4Spl Stereo Install Log
Just redid the wiring under my hood a little, the circuit breaker I had was only temporarily installed and I hated the way it looked. I found another 09 Fit owner on DIYMA forums with a nice bracket he made, so I mimic'd it with a new fuse holder for my fit. So now I have a 100% stable fuse holder
*In case you cannot see it, you first remove the battery, then the top 2 12mm bolts from the battery tray bottom, you then jack up your car a bit, and there are two more 12mm bolts holding the whole thing in, once that is out I just fabbed up a L shaped piece of sheet metal attached to the tray after painting it with black engine block paint, and mounted everything back then mounted the fuse holder. It is SOLID as a rock!

Front doors were done a few days ago with the recaro fabric.

Also yesterday I did this forgot to post took off my rear doors to do the recaro fabric and did the Second Skin Overkill acoustic foam on the rear doors.

And here is a shot of one of the rear doors done with the recaro fabric.

Just out of curiosity, what types of music do you listen to? How are your fronts able to keep up? In the video, you can tell how the bass is overpowering everything. Then when I saw the pics of door fabric (very nicely done) I see you aren't using any rear fill. Is it just turning the gain knob down when listening to music that isn't so bass heavy?
The fronts are getting 120watts per channel, so there is plenty of power for the mids/highs. Also I use a bass knob to adjust the bass up or down depending on the type of music I listen to, the videos are bass music so the knob is turned up. Rear fill is something I don't like or feel is necessary.
Woah man, nice write up. Read it from start to finish.
So I want to ask: How do you take the plastic trim that is on the stereo head unit? I wanted to remove just the trim, but it turns out I need to take out the whole unit.
I know I have to remove the plastic panel right above the cigar lighter port to access a bolt, but it is a bitch to take off. How'd you do it?
If its just easier for you to take a look at it at the next Orlando meet lemme know!

Thanks Fit4Spl for taking the time to put together such a great guide!
I see you used a mix of Dynamat and various Second Skin products. If you had to start from scratch which would you recommend and approximately how much square footage of material did you need for the following locations?
Front Doors outside/inside
Rear Doors outside/inside
Floorboards
Rear hatch
Roof
You had mentioned only needing about 25% coverage using the second skin products. Are you overall pleased with your noise reduction, or would you do more coverage if you had to do it again?

Just read start to finish. Thanks for all the effort of taking the pics and posting this, Fit4Spl. I'm pretty flabbergasted by the difference in flex before and after.
I am not ever going to need that much bass or volume or power, and being a musician I would never subject my dainty ears to that kind of abuse. And, I need to keep the entire cargo area, including the seat backs, clear of gear so I can use it for instrument/amp storage. But at some point in the not-too-distant future I hope to upgrade to a system with more headroom and better overall sound quality and spectrum, as well as to apply some dampening/deadening -- even if only to make driving in the rain a little less maddening. This is tremendously helpful. Thanks again!

A few changes recently, this was earlier this week these came in.

Then today I got around to finally finishing the sound deadening on the rear hatch cover, fully layer of damplifier and then a layer of overkill acoustic foam.

And today this arrived 34ft of 0 gauge wire, so some new things happening soon!

Battery rack is done, this is version 2.0 as the first 1/4" mdf felt to flimsy, so changed to 3/4" mdf and design changed due to the amount of cables going to the batteries.

A bit dirty still as it is raining and cannot do a proper clean up as I would normally do :P

WOW

Seriously amazing work going on here, and an excellent write up! I went with a glassed enclosure in the spare wheel well since I have to use my Fit to haul a ton of sound and PA gear or race wheels and gear on track days.
Looking forward to your future updates!

Thanks there will be more posted this weekend as my new sub amp is coming in tomorrow and I will be doing all the wiring up tomorrow with a fuse between the rear batts and the front battery, and one on each of the 2 0awg power wire strands. This new amp will be using 2 0awg power strands and 2 0awg gnd strands.
Got an early start to the weekend due to my amp arriving today and I am ultra paranoid about people stealing stuff off my front porch. So I took the day off and got started, the amp rack is as done as it can be till the new amp arrives via UPS. It's not the prettiest, however this is not going to be seen anyway so no reason to get all fancy with carpet etc.

Once the amp arrives I can get started running all the power/gnd cabling and get the back end wrapped up!

Well I got a lot done, its about 98% I am not too keen on the wiring how it looks but with the space limitations it's about as good as I could do, I may look into making my own buss bars to go between the batteries later on.
Here is the amp rack just before putting the batteries in and the enclosure over the amps.

Here are the two shots of the batteries, and there you can see the main fuse between the battery up front and the two in the rear.

And here is the back of the sub box completed finally carpeted the panel so it looks much nicer now.
