Catch can, or regular cleanings?

Even though my Nissan Frontier is not a GDI engine, I know many people add a catch can on the VQ series engines. After purchasing or new Fit last weekend with a real GDI engine, the debate started for me. Do I install a catch can, or do I perform regular cleanings, say every oil change with the CRC cleaner? The big thing that holds me back with a catch can is living in the frozen tundra and having the can freeze up and making things worse. Just getting as much opinion and learning as much as possible. Thank you for your time!
