I've had the 2016 Fit for about 7 months now, never drove it in hot weather. Yesterday the Chicago area peaked around 85 degree or so, I took it out for a drive. After getting home, I could get a whiff of a fuel/oil mixture smell by the hood. I popped the hood and located the smell to be the stock PCV hose's body itself. I'm not a stranger to the PCV system and installed oil catch cans in the past. But the stock PCV hose should be a plastic insulated fuel injection hose and that doesn't appear to the case since the smell is permeating through the hose? I'm still planning to install a catch can using Gates Barricade fuel injection hose, but the stock PCV hose should not leak oil/fuel return fumes in my opinion.

 

I've noticed the same thing. I even had the dealer replace the hose thinking it was defective but it's the same with the replacement. Honda's OEM hose seems a little bit fuel permeable.

 

Wow, the hits just keep on coming ... Its like this model comes from a completely different car company ....

 

I have an 07 Accord V6, and the stock PCV hose is very rigid and hard, yielding no fuel/oil fume smell at all. So what changed with the newer Honda's? Lower cost hoses?! I know and work on cars. For someone that rarely pops the hood, wouldn't he/she think there is something wrong with the car because the front of the car smells like fuel after driving?

 

Fixed, using 30R9 certified fuel injection hose from Auto Zone. It's $7 a foot but well worth. NO MORE fuel smell by the PCV return area. Used larger spring clamps also for the heavy duel fuel injection hose. I'm still not sure why the OEM hose is of such inferior quality, permeating fuel smell out.
