Fuel pump leaking fuel into engine oil

Fuel pump leaking fuel into engine oil
So I値l start by saying I知 an idiot. I lost my liscense for a year and after my battery died I left if parked for way to long. About 8 months. I know this was incredibly dumb. Put a new battery in the car and started it up and took it to get an oil change. Oil smelled of gas. Drove for a day and the oil rose above the full line on the dipstick, and the oil has a smell of gas once again. So I took it to the mechanic I trust in town, he says it would be highly unlikely that the fuel injectors are leaking and more likely the high pressure fuel pump on the motor. Sounds like an expensive fix and probably no way to tell if this is really the problem unless I get it fixed and see if the issue goes away. Probably no advice that would help me currently but I知 just throwing it out there in case anyone has had a similar problem or knows a thing or two about this sort of issue. Thanks. Car has 30000 miles on it but is past the three year warranty.

Depending on your driving habits and weather, fuel in the oil can be normal. Not desired, but not unexpected.
If you don't drive it long enough to not only get it up to operating temperature, but also keep it at operating temperature long enough to evaporate condensation out of the oil, you end up with (both water and fuel) condensation collecting in the oil.

It almost seems that because of the extremely long storage time that a gasket or a seal or something like that simply dried out and is now allowing gas to get past it and mix with the oil. The fact that the problem happened very quickly after taking the vehicle out of storage would fit that scenario. No idea though where that could be happening.

I don't have a GK, but my other DI vehicles have a mechanical fuel pump that is mounted to the valve cover and driven off of the camshaft. It the GK Fit is that same design, I'm sure your mechanic is right. A dried up o-ring or gasket in that fuel pump could cause fuel to leak into the oil.
I'd get it to Honda quickly and see if they'll cover it.
