Heavy duty Floor mats needed?
Heavy duty Floor mats needed?
Hey everyone
I have enjoyed reading posts in this forum. I recently bought a 2015 Honda Fit Ex Milano red (12/5) and was fortunate to have the mud guards and cargo try thrown in for free. I live in South Carolina where it doesn't really snow and wondered if the Honda OEM all weather floor mats would be enough to protect my carpet since I won't be in snow. Mainly I will be protecting my carpet from sand. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

the stock mats are very thin, and i wore mine down very quickly. if i had them in the car any longer, i would have worn through them.
i went with the honda all weather rubber mats, and am very happy with them. others have weathertech, and they love them as well.

Factory mats are made to look good in the showroom and thereafter to quickly sell you a set of better mats.
I think that the best thing to do is buy the heavy duty mats and put the flimsy ones on the shelf against the day when you sell the car.

That is what i do.....I have several set's of carpeted mats in my basement. The first upgrade I do is for all weather floor mats.
sure, they don't hold a "gallon" of water like the weather techs, but what idiot leaves a gallon of water/slush in their footwell?
WeatherTech should soon have the rear set available. You won't regret WeatherTech--they're the best.
You will probably won't see the rear set of the WeatherTech mats till January. This was the latest update I got from WeatherTech (Inquired two days ago).
Amazon has the OEM weather proof car mats for a pretty good price.
I bought the oem ones off amazon, I didn't like how little they protected the carpet so I ended up buying the weather tech ones. I left the rear one in since weather tech doesn't have the back seat floor liners yet, I'd recommend buying the weather tech ones and skipping the Honda ones if you live in a climate where winters are brutal, the Honda ones won't offer much protection
Will sell for $75 plus shipping. PM me if interested. Also have cargo area liner for sale. Thanks, Bill
They're now available on their site, no idea who you talked to. I ordered mine today.
Husky Liners started selling front+rear sets about two weeks ago, and I like them. They take advatage of the OEM retainer clips, and the picture on the website is of the actual product itself. Cheaper too (and was cheaper still during a Cyber Week special at a reseller).
I tend to have better luck with businesses that I've never seen ads from, so it looks like I'll be keeping the Husky. I'm just surprised that the paper mats my car was sold with lasted this long (two months)!
