Backup camera and gear shift indicator light
Backup camera and gear shift indicator light
Hello, I have a 2016 Honda Fit LX. There are two problems and I am not sure if they are related.
- The backup camera is not showing anything when I put into Reverse gear. The display doesn't change. It remains in the Main screen as if nothing has changed in gears.
- I found the gear shift indicator light also not displaying the R gear. All other gears display correctly in the indicator
I checked the backup fuse (29) and fuse looks fine. Anyone has any ideas what to look?

So reverse works fine, it just doesn't show R on the display, and the camera doesn't activate?
I suspect a bad sensor. That would explain why the backup camera isn't activating - the system doesn't think it needs to.
There might be a system override functioning here, whereas if you put the gear lever in the correct position for R, the transmission will automatically go into reverse even if the sensor is bad. Kind of a limp-home mode. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into reverse at all.

Is the sensor in the transmission?
Yeah, just conveniently place your wife behind your reversing car
Sounds like something I've seen on one of those crime shows where the husband offs the wife for the insurance money.
"don't worry honey, I just need you to tell me if the backup lights come on!"
