Exhaust rattling after installing Drawtite Hitch
Exhaust rattling after installing Drawtite Hitch
Howdy, so I installed a Drawtite 1.25 hitch on my Fit Sport '18 a couple months ago. It's been fantastic so far, I'm able to toss on my bike rack and carry my bike around without getting my interior ingrained with dirt every week lol. The only issue I noticed is that the bolt that sits above the exhaust must be rubbing on my muffler, as I get rattling in reverse and on startup (especially with the AC on). In general is just adds a lot of unnecessary cabin noise, although I don't think it'll damage anything long-term. Ideally I'd like to fix it.
Anyway, based on what I've seen this is a known issue with hitch installs on GK5's, and the usual solution is to either bend the hangers or get longer exhaust rubber insulators. Has anyone found a set of rubber insulators that work with the Sport exhaust (i.e. 90 degree turn ones that hang lower)? If I have to I'll bend the hangers (or get a shop to do it), but if I can just get a set of longer rubbers I'd rather go that way.
Thanks in advance!

I installed Curt hitch when I got my 2019. I didn't even realize how close the bottom of the bolt is to the muffler. Looks like about 3 to 4 mm at most.
I don't see any sign of contact, though. Lucky me.
I wonder if there's some sort of high-temperature silicone caulk/sealer or something you can cover the bottom of the bolt with. No idea if it would help, but if it works, no need to change the location of the muffler. Just throwing it out there.
