My Fit is doing this odd thing where, many times on start, especially when it's sat for a bit, there's a short loud grinding noise when I start the car. The shop won't guess at what it is, but they haven't yet been able to get it to do it when I take it in, which means needing to leave it for an extended period just to hopefully catch it.

Does anyone else have an idea what this might be caused by? The car runs flawlessly otherwise. It doesn't feel or act like a transmission problem (automatic). Perhaps it's the starter going?

VTC actuator. My '16 LX does this. Lots of threads here about it. Here's one:

^^^ This ^^^ Our 15 LX does it, or at least has, not in quite some time (probably just jinxed myself) ....Honda says it won't harm the car, but it does sound awful
