Timing Chain Replacement 15 ex-l
Timing Chain Replacement 15 ex-l
My girlfriend has a 15 ex-l and was getting a rattle for a few seconds at start up which led me to believe it was timing chain noise we took it to the dealer for the fuel injector warranty and had the code p0341 for timing off. which confirmed my suspicion. I am looking to do the repair myself as I am definitely able, I come from the Audi community and have built some very fast cars from scratch and this thing is much simpler then that. The job looks pretty self explanatory and I'm sure once I get into it and see the timing marks I will be able to figure it out but I was wondering if there was a DIY or a repair manual available to assist. that would be much easier. I have scoured the internet for the past few days and haven't found much but little tidbits. It looks like chiltons is no longer available or they never made one. emanualonline doesn't have this car.
Has anyone done this and can show how to set the timing at tdc for installation. Or does anyone know of a manual I can purchase that isn't $100?
I checked the sticky sections and did not see anything and searched but found a bunch of dead end links as the threads are from years ago

I replaced the VTC actuator, timing chain, and tensioner a month ago. Replacing the chain might not be necessary, as I checked the lengths side-by-side and didn't see any visual difference. I also have a '15 Fit and they're notorious for faulty VTC actuators (VTEC cam sprockets). That might be the rattle you hear. Wouldn't hurt to replace the chain tensioner either. I know Chiltons has the repair manual for timing chain replacement. I accessed it through my public library. Lemme see if I can get screenshots of it.
yes I think that should do it, I appreciate it. I tried Chilton's but as of this month its NLA it appears looks pretty straightforward. I just wanted to make sure I was familiar with all the timing marks. I was thinking the chain probably isn't stretched at 100k but its one of those "while your in there" things so Im just gonna replace it all, I just don't want it to leave her stranded
