Has anyone had CVT issues or breakdowns?
Calling a manual trans "obsolete" is absolute top tier rage bait LOL.
You can't be serious considered failure rate of manuals (near zero) vs. the mid tier failure rate of Honda CVTs (Fits, CRVs, etc.). Seeing more than should be nowadays. They aren't better, they're just designed to get better MPG because of the EPA requirements. And guess what, almost all "improvements" inspired by the EPA (withstanding DI) are more problematic than the "gas" they save. Short sighted - who'd have thought.
That being said, these are TORQUEY little motors. All that friction generates heat. It's not good on the band and CVTs do TERRIBLE with heat - hence the 30k interval. You can get away with a lot more on the MT, and I got over 200k on my clutch, still had maybe 20-30 left in it. Hauled probably 6-800lbs for at least 80-100k of that and it's still doing well. Realistically if you really had love for the Constantly Variable Trashcan, you'd put a cooler on it or just baby it like a grandmother. And at that point, you'd be better off with a Prius considered wear mile markers and MPG.
Had a customer today tell me about her daughter's 2020 CRV that her CVT blew at 35k. Hearing a lot more problems with this "non obsolete" technology
. Maybe you'll figure it out. Don't even get me started on small displacement turbocharged power plants, LOL. Cheers

Clutch Replacement vs. CVT Transmission Replacement.
Better to replace manual transmission clutch than an entire CVT transmission.
