Safety Recall, Display Audio unit, low power

Excuse me if this has already been posted, I didn't see it yet.

Has anyone had the safety recall work done for the low-power to the DA (Display Audio) unit? It apparently is considered a safety issue, because then the rear-view camera may not work.

Only occurs to Honda Fits with a key ignition, 2018-2020.

Just wondering why the software upgrade couldn't happen at home? And if there were any weird side effects after the recall?

Software flashing at home? I don't see that happening. Honda doesn't want you having their code, plus massive liability if something goes wrong in a "home" update.

It has to be done by Honda techs at the dealership.

I just got the notice and I'll be booking an appointment imminently. I wouldn't expect any problems from this update. If you're worried though you could wait another month and ask again for those who had it done if there were any issues.

All warranty work has to be performed by Honda at the dealership. Just thinking that they would come to you to fix it is absolutely crazy.

Last time I had any sort of software update done was for a Subaru, for EyeSight.
The actual software update time was really short. Technician put a sticker on the door jamb after the update.
Sign in procedure and paperwork took longer than that.

I wish they could streamline a software update to avoid all the formalities. I mean, it's not like they even need to take the car anywhere.
But oh well. Bureaucracy is strong with big operations.

It's a federally mandated safety recall. It takes about 15-20 mins and your audio unit won't get reset (all your settings and presets will still be intact)
