Weird door lock problem
Weird door lock problem
I have a 2015 EXL CVT. I had some window tinting done and after getting home I noticed the locks acting weird. Every time I closed the door it made a sound as if trying to lock or unlock. Every time taking off from stop, even when all doors are locked it would make a sound as if trying to lock. Key fob would only unlock the drivers door. If you lock with fob and hit lock again no confirmation beep but even if unlocked every time you touched the door handle it would beep. I could only unlock rear doors with the button on drivers door but that would not unlock the hatch. The only way to unlock the hatch was to have the remote and touch the lock with hand. I went back to the tint shop and they showed me that no water was in the door or where electronics/buttons on door are. They thought that disconnecting battery and reconnecting would solve it. It didn't. The owner spent hours trying to find a solution. He said his 12volt specialist would be in on a certain day if I wanted him to look at it or take the car to Honda and if they found the problem was caused by them they would cover the repair. We were frustrated to say the least. That night or should I say next morning at 2a.m. my garaged car alarm went off and I hit unlock on the key fob to disable the alarm and all doors, including the hatch, unlocked and the locks have been functioning flawlessly after that. I could not find anything on line describing the problem or solution. Anyone else have this happen??

The tint is all pre cut on a computerized machine that has templates of cars programmed in it. They are a top notch shop. They were willing to stand behind the problem if the Honda dealer found them responsible. I think it was more of a computer reset. The emergency key cylinder on drivers door was broken a couple years ago by someone breaking into my car but has never effected how the locks work besides not being able to use that. So far everything is still working normal. I think if they has disconnected the battery during the tinting and reconnecting it when done maybe this would not have happened. I posted here to see if anyone else experienced this weird occurrence.
