Possible high pressure fuel pump issues

Curious if anyone knows the working limits for the cam lobe that drives the high pressure fuel pump. Drawings show .120" or 3mm new. Mine is measuring .185" or 4.5mm. so it's pretty woAt what point will the lobe fail to drive the pump? At what point is it time for a new exhaust cam?

I'm getting p0087 and p0351 code. Engine chokes at 2000 rpm and will not run higher. Hard start. Fuel psi running around 40- 45. So basically what the tank pump is putting out. I believe the p0351 generated bc there wasn't enough fuel to combust at the end of the rail. Checked plugs and coils- good. Checked MAF- good. Throttle body- good

My suspicion right now is that the solenoid or electromagnet or whatever is in the top of the fuel pump is bad and has failed open so that fuel flows through but no pressure builds

Anyone with info or similar experience I'd appreciate your input

Oh also, right now I'm excluding fuel injectors. I'm working my way to that if the pump is ok. Based on the way this failed- catastrophically- on the highway at 80 mph. Sudden loss of power then limping it home 15 miles at 25mph. I don't know but i would think fuel injector failure would be a little more gradual. Also some different codes?

Thanks

I do wish people would state their model year and mileage when they post problems.

Anyway can't even recall seeing any previous post from anyone about fuel pump problems but I easily might have missed something. That being said Honda has a recall out on a block of 2018-19 cars for bad fuel pumps which have to be replaced. I assume you would have gotten a recall notice if you were affected.

Helpful..

In my haste I forgot '16 fit ex-l 115k miles

The recall as I understood was for the low pressure pumpin the fuel tank.. not on the engine

Helpful indeed..

As this is posted to the third gen fit subforum it's probably one of them

'16 fit 115k miles

The recall in question is for the tank pump.. not the high pressure pump on the engine.. but I'm sure you knew that

Thanks

P0351 is a circuit issue. A misfire would cause P0301, expect to replace the coil (Hitachi or equivalent). Buy once cry once as they say. Replace first then look at HPFP issue. Launch x431 is about 5-600$, will provide actual rail pressure. Sounds like HPFP internal failure.

Low rail pressure at HP rail, considering it was sudden - I would remove valve cover and look for damage on lobe driving the HPFP, rule out your own hypothesis.

I haven't seen hardly any Honda/Toyota cam lobe issues apart from American cars/lack of maintenence.. or Audi/VW cam followers causing issues. Considered it's been sudden, not gradual, I think you know where to look. Good luck

The P0351 code indicates a problem with the primary or secondary circuit of ignition coil "A" (cylinder #1), which is the engine's ignition coil...........off the internet...why are you focused on fuelpump????
