Bought my 19' new, has about 160k all highway miles now. Did my 4th trans service today, found a ton of metal shards on the dipstick. The car still moves and drives somewhat normal from what I can tell. Most of what I've read about CVT issues had to do with earlier 3rd gens. How many of us with later models have had this problem?
Trying to decide whether it's worth fixing or just dumping.

I did a change last week, and there was barely anything on the plug. You changed it before with nothing unusual on the plug?
Since the Fit is a great car, and you can't buy a new one, I would try to keep it. A rebuild would be very expensive, but so would a new car. Maybe you can find a good CVT in a wrecking yard.

I assume you mean the drain plug. And yeah that's a lot, big stuff too. You didn't see anything on previous changes? Used Honda fluid in all changes? From a start you initially start up slowly (most CVT wear and tear apparently occurs in the start up) ?
I’m the only one that has ever worked on this car since I bought it new. I’ve never seen this any of the previous times I’ve changed the fluid, and I have always used the HCF2 fluid. Correct, that was supposed to say drain plug, not dipstick. I do drive this car 140mi a day, but it’s all highway miles. So it got maintained pretty regularly.
It was a bit odd that I found the fill plug sitting on top of the trans when I initially took off the airbox. I wouldn’t have left it off. Which means it probably blew off, seems likely as it doesnt appear to be a super snug fit.
Anyway I ended up buying 2 new cars so ill probably have to scrap it. Its a shame the rest of the car is still in great condition too.
