HondaLink will be offered on the 2015 Fit, but the newest "CarPlay" from Apple, that is now offered in some of the high end manufacture cars be available for the Fit if one knows ? Or are will stuck with HondaLink... Tried a Google search, but a no go thus far......

Full fledge iOS would be nice in my opinion.

 

Only if you use iPhone, but Android dominates the cell phone market in overall market share. We'll see how this shakes out in the car infotainment market.

 

Just thinking out loud for my situation....

Learned, and verified that the Nokia HERE Nav app, though OK, it has some issues that I do not feel comfortable with, and the main one is that one has to use DATA from ones account, and that troubles me in that I have a limited amount of data, not one with unlimited. The "CarPlay" system from Apple does not use data, but downloaded to the phone.

Second issue is that what if I stop using a smartphone because of my 68 years, and the Hondalink is not going to give me this Nav system any longer. What a waste.

Than of course, I could just get an iPad Mini or full size, use a car cup holder device, and use a Nav app that has no data usage, which is the better option, but of course the EX version of the Fit will have this Hondalink as standard, which I would not use now, and a waste. I could purchase the normal installed Nav system, but that cost about $1,500.00.

Not an easy decision, but I'm now leaning towards the EX-L Honda Fit, purchase the iPad Mini with cup holder and be done with it.

According the my buddy at Headquarter Honda, the CarPlay will be in the new Fit EX and 2014 Civic EX.

But...What I have heard, and read is that the "HondaLink" will be available with the 2015 Fit EX version on up (EX-L) not "CarPlay". At least not at this time. LX version will not be offered with the HondaLink. I think your buddy got it wrong, or he thinks CarPlay is the same a HondaLink with SIRI, which is not CarPlay at all and one has to have both the HDMI cable and Lightning cable to work. CarPlay only needs the Lightning cable.....but I hope he is right.

The photos on the link you provided does give some hope for the 2014 Civic owners that one can upgrade to CarPlay, but that is only a guess.

 

Am hoping that you guys are right and Honda will eventually recognize Android users such as me. The rest of my family are all Apple but this car is gonna be my daily driver.
