2015 Fit or 2014 Civic

Since the current Civic has been out for some time, there are large discounts from the dealer that can be had. Whereas the new Fit will have no discounts, at least in the beginning. That will make them very close in pricing for comparable trims (ie: Fit EX vs Civic EX). Probably as close as under $100 difference. In fact, there is a chance the comparably trimmed Civic might even cost less to buy, again, at least in the first few months. So, is the Civic more bang for the buck at that point? It has similar mpg, few more horsepower, use of a full size trunk while seating 4 or 5. More high end materials??? (Not sure about that one. Just an assumption based on the higher price tag.)

So, wha are all your thoughts? Ultimately, I am still going for the Fit, just makes me wonder.

The choice is yours. I wouldn't want a civic even if it was cheaper because a: it's a sedan. b: it's heavier so the realistic mpg will be significantly lower (probably in the high 20s). c: it's made in US or Canada. d: the newest generation does not appeal to me aesthetically.

If you value larger car's benefits you might be better off with the Civic. It probably is safer all around. It must still be plenty reliable. It is supposedly a good hwy cruiser and better for carrying passengers. Hope this helps. Whatever you decide, both of these are excellent choices.

It all comes down to what you want in an automobile. The new Fit looks like a fun car. It's been years since anyone thought that about a Civic sedan. Almost certainly the Fit will feel more nimble, more responsive.

Drive both. One of them will speak to you.

Those pics of the Fit look great.

Yeah, a test drive is needed. I am likely going to go with the Fit though.

I agree with john 21031 and ratchet. It all depends on your needs. I went with the fit because of its versatility and functionality. Storage space, loading and unloading stuff and you can easily park almost anywhere because of its size. City driving is a breeze. Although on highways you'll sometimes feel the wind gust. Test drive indeed will help. I test drove both ('13 honda fit sport M/T and a '13 honda civic EX M/T). Ended up with my first choice, the '13 fit sport M/t.

Back in 2008, when I went looking to replace a first generation Honda Accord Hatchback (1978) with a similar size car, I looked at the base Fit and a Civic DX with only an air conditioner installed. The Civic has no radio, less headroom in the back seat, manual mirrors, windows and doorlocks, and a higher sticker price. The Fit Base had AC as standard, more headroom in the rear seats, more versatility in the rear, since the seats fold down and you can buy a tonneau cover to hide the luggage, power mirrors, windows and door locks, a factory radio/cd player as standard and a sticker price of $1000 less than the Civic DX. Both cars were equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission, which is what I wanted. I ended up ordering a blue Fit which arrived on Friday the 13th June 2008. No regrets! I've added a cargo liner, tonneau cover, mud guards, factory fog lamps and a few aftermarket items to it. My older brother has a 95 Civic DX that he bought brand new. He's been happy with it, but he thinks his next car will be a Honda Fit as well, after he drove mine a few times.

Sounds like you had made the right choice at the time.
