Keyless Entry and Camping in the Fit

If you plan on camping inside your Fit EX/EX-L, would the keyless entry become a problem? I assume you wouldn't be able to lock the car with the keys inside with the engine off. If this was possible, then I also assume anyone would be able to unlock the car just by touching the door handle since the key is within proximity.

I really want the EX model but not if it will pose a safety issue during camping trips. But then again, anyone can just break the glass and murder you either way. Thoughts?

Yes you can lock the doors, they automatically lock when you start to drive and you have the transmitter in your pocket but I also assume they could unlock the door. I will test it out for you if ni one comes back with an answer soon.

Ok here is your answer. It knows! I put the transmitter inside the car and left it in and I can not lock or unlock the door from outside. You can use the inside swich to lock the door but not the button outside. Soon as the transmitter is outside of car you can ipunlock by pulling the handle.

i dunno why you worry about being murdered. just sleep in a tent in a campground.

anyways according to this video for the smart entry system on the accord you cannot lock the car if the keys are anywhere inside the vehicle. if it's the same system on the fit then i would expect it to be the same.

Hmm... maybe that's not the case if someone locks the car from inside with the keyfob inside the car.

If you lock the car with the switch inside and the transmitter is inside with you the doors can not be unlocked from outside.

And that folks is the difference between someone reading (or from a test drive) about a new feature in a car as opposed to living and driving that vehicle daily.
