Finding Your PERECT FIT

It has been two weeks that 2015 Honda Fits have been officially for sale and hundreds of cars have now been delivered to their new owners. But finding Your Perfect FIT may not be as easy as stopping down at your nearest Honda dealer. That is because as pointed out in this thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...ml#post1239261 there are 46 different varieties of Fits. Some will be common and easily found and others might be like finding a needle in a haystack.

I hope this thread provides a resource for those looking for their "Perfect FIT". If you find a rare Fit at your dealer, please post to this thread what you found and where. And if you bought the car noted, let other know of your good luck.

The first resource that you can make use of to find your Perfect FIT is the website cars.com. If you click this link, you should open a window with all the 2015 Honda Fits listed on cars.com throughout the USA New 2015 Honda Fit - in 96753 Area - on Cars.com

After going to this site, you can change the zip code to your own and specify a search area distance range. After that you can add filters to find just the color/trim/ transmission you seek.

Now a few very important things to note of about cars.com

1. Every car listed on cars.com with a VIN is a real car, but NEVER EVER assume that just because it is listed on cars.com, that it is sitting on the dealer's lot just waiting for you to come buy it. It may still be on the way to the dealer from the factory. It may already be pre-sold, or it may have already arrived and been delivered and has just not been removed from the listings. It even might have been traded to another dealer prior to arrival.

2. If calling a dealer about a specific car, ask for the internet sales manager, or better yet, email them. A floor sales person generally won't know a thing about what is shown in an online inventory. And he will tell you anything. His only goal is to get you come into the dealer so that he can try to sell you something he does have on the lot.

3. Be sure to check in the "other" category for colors. some colors with exotic names like Passion Berry, Alabaster Silver, Modern Steel Metallic or Crystal black pearl get miscategorized.

4. Be aware that only about 800, of the more than 1000, Honda dealers list their inventories on cars.com. So it is not a complete inventory of all cars at all dealers.

5. If looking for an EX-L navigation car, use the keyword "navigation" in your search after you have narrowed it down to only EX-L cars.

Right now, cars.com shows 2364 2015 Honda Fits. This is only a fraction of the 14,000 cars that have been built so far. As a result, I expect this number to rise dramatically in the coming weeks.

Of the cars built so far, most are EXs, most are CVTs and most are either Silver, Black, Red or Grey. So if you are looking for an EX CVT in one of these colors, you should have little problem finding your Perfect FIT. But if you are looking for a manual transmission Fit, be advised that fewer than 2.5% of the Fits built so far have been manuals. And if you further want a mystic yellow, manual transmission Fit, you might be out of luck right now, as yellow fits only started production last week and so far no manuals have shown up yet.

What are the hardest to find Fits?
As stated above there are very few manual transmission cars in the inventories yet. So any manual transmission car should be considered rare, regardless of color. If you find a manual car at a dealer, please post information about it in this thread. Someone will be greatful!

LX Fits are supposed to be 30% of the product mix. but Honda has started production out by making mostly EXs and far fewer LX cars and more EX-L cars. So LX cars, even with CVT are currently semi-rare, particularly in colors other than Black, Silver, Red or Grey.

EX-Ls are supposed to only be 10% of production, but right now they make up almost 22% of the initial production. The EX-L Navis are a subset of the EX-Ls and are almost as rare as any manual transmission Fit. So if you find a navi of any color, post it here.

Colors: The rarest color right now is Mystic Yellow. Only 2 LX CVTs have shown up on cars.com so far. Passion Berry, Orchid White, and Aegean Blue have been in production for about a month, but are still much harder to find than Black, Silver Red and Grey, that have been in production for 4 months.

And now the Unicorns:
Of the 46 different different Color/Trim/transmission combinations, the following have yet to show up in the cars.com inventory:
Red LX manual
Yellow LX manual
Yellow EX CVT
Yellow EX manual
Yellow EX-L CVT
Yellow EX-L Navi CVT
Please post information any sightings of these!

Happy Hunting for your Perfect FIT

Great info! It may or may not not help find the elusive "Perfect Fit", but it goes a long way towards explaining the problem. Thanks for taking the time to research and post this!

And Wolfchase Honda in Bartlett, TN, had a EX-L with Nav as of Saturday morning. Modern Steel Metallic color.

FWIW,An easy way to search for LX CVTs only on Cars.com is to limit prices to the 17,000-18,000 range.

I've yet to find a white LX on Cars.com that actually existed at the dealer. I loved the email I received back from one dealer that said:

"The car you inquired about isn't in stock. Would you like to make an appointment today or tomorrow to test-drive the car of your choice?"
Umm, pretty hard to drive the car of my choice if it isn't in stock!

Frankly, I've found Cars.com to be frustrating for a car like the Fit. The inventory information is pretty much false and contacting dealers results in nothing but come-ons to "come in and talk." It's more a marketing tool than an information resource. In my search, Metro Acura Honda has had a white LX on the site for the better part of a month but no actual car. Sad.

i agree about the listings on cars.com. unless you contact each dealer about their specific inventory on their lot, its impossible to find your fit. it is beyond frustrating trying to find one of the colors that isn't the usual black, silver, grey. i would love a yellow fit-or possibly even a blue one, can i find any within a reasonable driving distance? no. i'd even move up to a purple one if i had to, none near me. its not like i live in the boonies-chicago area should be getting a decent supply of these but nope. but cars.com has been pretty useless for finding one for me at least. i am to the point of looking at other cars that i can actually see touch and drive before i purchase.

Red face Looking for the unicorn Mystic Yellow Pearl EX CVT

Howdy y'all. I'm looking to buy a Yellow 2015 Fit EX CVT. My dealer says they aren't going to be shipping from the factory until late September. I'm willing to wait. If I'm going to spring for a new car, I've always wanted a yellow one. Gonna call it Spongebob Squarecar! One they're shipping, I'll likely either put deposit on one in the pipeline or special order one. Dealer is being nice; no pressure. My credit union advised me to wait until there are some coming out of the factory before I put my deposit down. I do plan on a few accessories from my dealer; I'm not handy and will be pressed for time once it arrives due to work. Want the splash guards, (drive on gravel occasionally and want to reduce paint chipping), wheel locks because if my neighborhood, and maybe door edge guards because I'm a bit clumsy. I'll get window tint on my own. How does that sound? One local dealer shows a yellow one on their site, but I called and nobody actually has even seen a yellow one yet...

"Gonna call it Spongebob Squarecar!"

Funny, my EX is called SpacePod Elroy - think the Jetsons' theme song (assuming you're old enough to even know what that is).

Oh yes, plenty old enough. I'm an early 60's model. Love it! I'll keep haunting cars.com and occasionally bumping my sales guy to keep looking. Local msrp is the usual $19025. I chose the accessories I would like btw, (none required, dealer has not pressured me at all...yet). My current car, an scuffed up eight year old kia spectra5 is still chugging along. It doesn't have a name; didn't have much personality but has provided steady transportation. I'm keeping it so that we will each have a car. Not worth as much for trade in as it is for driving.

My wife wanted a new car and had no idea what she wanted. Convertibles were at the top of the list. Comfort was high. Fuel economy was tops.
After quantifying the attributes and driving 20 different cars, she chose the Fit. Not only was it the least expensive, but it wasn't at all what she initially wanted.

I encouraged her to get EXACTLY what she wanted...no compromises. EX-L with Navi.

She liked several colors but only loved the White Orchid Pearl. That's what we'll get...

$500 refundable deposit on August 3 at the local Honda dealer and subsequent notification that it would be at least the end of September. They only place orders at the end of the month. But..they would look at other dealers and try and trade for one if they get it. Then the word came that it could be deep into November before it showed up...

Cars.com. Looked several times a day and saw them show up and disappear regularly. I used the "notify by email" app online and plugged in our car.

Three days later, two showed up on the east coast. The closest was in DC. I called the dealer one minute after the notification and asked if it was taken. He wasn't sure if they had that car yet. I gave him a credit card number for the deposit cementing my commitment for purchase. The call came that afternoon that indeed the car was scheduled to arrive on Monday.

I gave him a list of extras to install, caught a bus on Thursday, paperwork on Friday and was back home by Friday night.

Agree...Cars.com made it easy to find my perfect fit. Well my wife's...
