So I bought a LX Fit 2015 2 months ago, 2000 miles right now. Today while dropping the kids to school I noticed this on the rear passenger door near the handle.

Is that bubble rust under the paint?

 

I wouldn't think rust. My guess is that the paint simply didn't stick to the metal (who knows if it was a paint problem or a metal-contamination problem). I'd get it back to Honda right away... after all it is THEIR problem!

 

I ran my fingers on it to feel the bump but I cannot feel anything, it's smooth. It's probably the clear coat on top of it. I'm just afraid that the fix might involve removing the factory clear coat to fix the little bump.

 

They may wet sand it to smooth it out. Let the dealership take a look at it.

I agree, it's not rust. Honda has unfortunately been having some growing pains with the Celaya, Mexico plant. I've heard rumors that sand was getting in the paint, but who knows..

Take it back to the dealer. They'll be able to determine what it is and handle it accordingly.
