stuffed it up
So it was college day on Wednesday, 150-mile jaunt across the state for the little princess' senior year. Everything fit nicely; in fact I'm sure we could have held more. Gas mileage was somewhat of a disappointment, we pushed it on the way out (against the wind, I think) and got in the low 40s mpg-wise, no surprise there. But coming back I took it real slow (55mph-60mph) with an empty car and still only managed to flirt with numbers in the low 50s, with 52.7 being the high point; I was hoping to see high 50s and maybe even 60 mpg or so. But it was kind of hilly coming back and mostly it seemed I was going up (been doing this ride for years now and I never noticed that before) so maybe it wasn't a great test.

Yep, it is impressive. I've become a real fan of tall mode; I keep the rear up on the driver side and toss all my junk on the floor. It doesn't roll around much and it's easy to get to, just open the back door.

Reminds me of a young (no older than 23) sales guy at a nearby Nissan dealership, I had just finished test driving a Versa and we were standing around talking about other cars and when I brought up the Fit he sort of grimaced and said: "Not a bad car, but I can't get over that badonkadonk ... you know, the rear end." After a second he continued: "The ass end of that car is just UGLY, and it so, so ... BIG." I kind of cracked up because that's not the first time I heard that; a few even mentioned a certain reality bitch I won't mention here. I personally don't see it and think the styling is fine.

Those rear ends look great to me, but I'd be stuffing them with bikes.
2014-09-25 The rear seats do fold flat. There is a false bottom in the back, used for hiding valuables. If you raise the false bottom up it sits level with the folded seats, making it almost as flat as the Fit. The space is really huge back there. The Versa Note's 6MT is really slick and very well spaced out.

Yeah, the things you discover that first week. Frankly the higher trim Versa Note (SR? SV? something like that) was kinda sweet, flatness not withstanding, and his price was insane. If only there was an MT there somewhere ...

I cracked up that the versa note can be had with those manual crank windows?
My wife was pleasantly surprised how much more she can fit in her GK vs the GE she traded in. 2" or something depth seems nothing, but then when you have that odd shaped something that just could not fit in the GE, it fell right into the trunk in the GK.

On our road trip vacation this year we did the seats down on the way out and mid trip switched to tall mode. Could fit way more in the car in tall mode. On the way out my rearward vision was compromised big time. In tall mode there was nothing blocking the back view. The view was like the car was empty. After that trip I decided I needed air bags. Finally have them but have not installed yet.
