Perhaps ours is the Alabaster Silver in your list. Headed for Honda of Fife, in Washington State?
The ones on the list here are set for NJ. Oct 18th is possible, but seems too soon. I have not heard of any delays at the port, but you are in a different region.

It all depends if your car is coming from Mexico or Japan.

Our first shipments of Fits are all CVTs. I also posted yesterday that 6 speed Fits will be produced in lower numbers for 2016.

My friend who was originally told October 30th is now going to be picking up her 2016 on Friday! I'm so jealous. Hopefully mine will be here in a couple of weeks too. Both are CVTs.

So how do we order a japan-made fit? Go to the dealer and just ask?

Yes, actually. You place the order with your local dealer and reserve it with a deposit. The car is then reserved electronically with Honda, with either a car that has been scheduled to be made already and has not been allocated to a specific dealer, or a fresh order (wait would be a little longer).

Cars built in North America are usually a two month wait max (excluding unexpected delays). Not sure what the turn around will be with Japan made Fits.

That being said, I have mid Nov ETA on the car that are in In-Transit status.

Is it somewhat unheard of to negotiate below MSRP if you're placing a brand new, specific order like this?

Or do I have to suck it up and pay MSRP?

The reality with most new model cars is that dealers will most likely ask for MSRP or more when cars start arriving. This is currently the case with the new HRV and Pilot, and yet they are still selling very well and customers leave very happy with their new vehicles.

That being said, the mark up on a Fit is only $400-$500 based on the trim you want. Its not $3,000-$6000 like an Acura.

At the end of the day, if you can afford it, buy what you want. The other option? Just don't buy it and look for something else that has discounts like a Nissan (they practically give away cars).

I bought at Mugen Si years ago at full MSRP and I had no regrets.

I guess my wife has the same mindset when buying designer bags though

We need a new TLA.

JDM - Japanese Domestic Market
JEM - Japanese Export Market!

None have shown up on Cars.com yet in the LA region. A lot of LA dealers post their vaporware inventory there.

I'm waiting to see if the "made in Japan" cars have the same design/build issues as the "made in Mexico" cars. Specifically, sagging bumper covers, sagging rear fender liners, and dashboard panels that don't fit.

In the first of the new Fit, I can honestly say that I have seen a total of two cars arrive with any issues/defects. Other than that, every other vehicle has been problem free.

My bumper cover wasn't sagging when I bought the car. It developed the sag over time. Dealer can't fix it.
