CVT Recall
Honda told me today that by this weekend, (unless they need some more time), they should have the VIN's for the CVT recall loaded in their online dealer and web system.
You can check your VIN next week at:
Recall Information for Safety & Defects | Honda Owners Site
To see if you are a lucky winner.
Good luck!

Our Fit has had some disconcerting transmission issues that I've noticed in the past few weeks. Examples: Shifting into drive and when I push the gas it will rev up before it catches. While driving and go to push on the gas will sometimes cause a stutter. Just saw this recall and turns out our car is in it. Going to the dealer tomorrow. Hopefully this fixes it. I love this car but the transmission issues freak my wife out.
If my vehicle requires this recall should it already be up on the Honda owners site? Or is it possible there are still some delays. Because my VIN currently shows no outstanding recalls.
My Fit is from very early in the production run. So far my Fit required the "voluntary" bumper update and the ignition coil recall.
I know I will be notified if the repair is required; but I want to get it done ASAP if it is necessary. The next couple weeks are convenient to bring my car to the dealership.

Delivery date on my Fit was 18 June 2014 and it was in the database as of late Steptember for both coil and CVT recall
I just brought in my 2015 Honda Fit LH w/ CVT for the CVT software update and the ignition coil replacement.
During the past year, I've been getting 44 miles per gallon on the highway---exactly what Honda specs were for this model.
-----------
Since the above two recall updates were performed, I've driven nearly 200 miles on the highway. My mileage is now 51.3 MPG.
Dear Honda: PLEASE give us some more recalls. Any time you want to do a recall like that, I'll be happy to bring my car in for it.

EPA numbers aren't set in stone. I've never owned a car in which I couldn't beat the EPA highway estimate in all-around driving.
after about 2 weeks of driving my MPG in town appears to be up but overall its down a few MPG, probably the colder weather and possibly the coil packs since that recall hasnt been done yet.
Still, I'll trade the 1-2 mpg loss for the much better driveability.
Though now I feel almost no difference in how the car drives and little difference in MPG with or without the "econ" button on, whereas before it was like someone took away 2 cylinders with it on.

I have no doubt weakened my standing here by claiming I owned a 2015 Honda Fit LH --- of course there is no such model. Mine is actually an LX --- (the plain version) but with the CVT transmission.
My understanding at the time I bought it was that the LX with the CVT got slightly better mileage than the LX with the manual transmission.
In any event, I was getting 44 mpg highway until the recall work was done for the ignition coil and CVT software. After the recall work, I've been getting a bit over 51 mpg. The car performs a bit smoother as well.
What a really great car!

Last week the service advisor told me that ALL 2015 FIT's with CVT are included in the software upgrade recall without exception.
While they are doing the software upgrade, the dealer will connect a device to the transmission that will transmit the "health" of the transmission to Honda for their analysis to help them determine if any damage was done to the transmission that may require repair or replacement.
But as of today, my Jan 2015 production FIT still is not on the recall list.
The Service Advisor was surprised, checking multiple times because they were told--ALL CVT FITS need to be analyzed.
But there was nothing he could do until the VIN comes up in the system. I had time this week to take care of this so I was pushing him.
So maybe more time is needed for Honda to analyze the info they are receiving from FITS already recalled/tested and possibly change the direction of the recall OR Honda did not want to flood the dealers with CVT recalls and it's a slow roll out OR maybe it's not all 2015 CVT FITs?

My build date is 9-14 and as of a few minutes ago, my VIN shows no recall notices, per the Honda recall website. The original press release said that recall notices would be mailed out starting 10-16. So, maybe it's just taking more time than they thought. I don't think there were enough 2015 FITs sold in San Diego to have any significant impact on the dealer repair shops so I suspect something is going on at Honda corporate that we aren't being told about. Hey, we can all use another good conspiracy theory, right? Maybe the defect was caused by space aliens.....
