Service schedule

I scheduled an appointment for service for my 2015 EX 6 speed. My front and rear bumpers doesn't fit snugly and there's a squeaking noise on my clutch pedal. Minor issues, but i think its prudent to have it checked. This is my second new car the first one was a 2006 Suzuki SX4 5 speed. I did not have this kind of issue with the Suzuki. This should still be covered by the warranty, right? I bought the car last October 2015. I know my question might sound silly but I just want to hear from some who went thru the same issue.

Yeah, thought of applying WD40 on the clutch pedal spring before. Guess i could live with the not so snug bumpers.

The WD-40 solution did not work for my squeaky clutch. I tried that and a matter of days later, the clutch was squeaking again. The dealer had to replace the spring on the clutch pedal, as it was the wrong size.

Six months or so later, and no more noise. Definitely tell the dealer about it

Came from the dealer today. They lubricated the clutch pedal spring. The squeaking sound is gone (for now). I was surprised when they told me that they replaced all the four door handle brackets. Apparently there was a recall I was not aware of.

Handle brackets sounds like the rusting one that weren't properly corrosion treated so, apparently, the door can get rust stains. There is also an issue with the interior grab handle brackets--above the door, not part of the door--because they can puncture the curtain airbag unless they had the correct pad or something on their back side. My understanding is this does not affect all four doors. Do you know specifically which brackets this was?

In the US, "Recall" has a very specific meaning for safety mandatory issues with reporting to the NHTSA, etc. The grab handle bracket issue is a formal recall for affected vehicles in the US. Apparently Honda Canada notified the owners about their willingness to replace the rusting brackets. I don't know anything about Canadian "Recall" so not sure of the legal status of this effort there. If they did your handle brackets, this is of note to other owners because it suggests that, in the US, they are doing it for affected cars and/or cars locations where they are concerned about the issue, as a customer satisfaction campaign. (Something they want to do for your satisfaction, and the dealer volunteers it because their computer says Honda will pay for it for your VIN, but Honda is not required by law to do for you and formally report on.)

As I said earlier, I was not aware of any recall. I check the Honda website when I can using my VIN but it always says NO RECALL for my car. I will try to post the paper I got from the service dept. of the dealer. I am sure it was written there 4 door handle brackets as part of a recall. No wonder I have to wait for 4 hours. T'was the day after christmas (plus a saturday) and the place was packed.

If what they did was a customer sat campaign rather than a Recall, it wouldn't show on the recall web site. And you might not be notified. Sometimes I've received letters from Honda about these kinds of things, sometimes the dealer has offered or I've read about it on the web and never heard a word from Honda. Again, that is not how Recalls work. Those they have to notify you about. And they get pressure from the government to get the completion rate numbers high. So you may get notified again if you don't get the work done.

that is very interesting your USA and got all 4 brackets replaced. I am Canadian fit and had mine done under recall last week. if i type my VIN in honda canada, it comes up as a recall. i wonder what the criteria is in the USA, or if it really is "all" and a goodwill campaign.

Interesting... I'm in the US and am curious to know about that bracket issue... If I moved to Canada & imported my car would it suddenly become a recall for my car?

I am also very curious about the goodwill/customer satisfaction "recall" ... is that just up to dealers? If I go to my dealer and ask them, would they look into it? Is Honda paying for it as long as dealers ask..? So many questions.

weren't the suzuki's assembled in japan?

if so, that could be the big difference.. no such issues on my GE (2012). the GK (2016) i dont look at it very closely to keep me sane.

That # 15-088 is the internal Honda campaign/TSB #, if my past experience about these kind of numbers is a guide.

I stopped by the dealer today and they ran my VIN in their system and it came up that I'm covered for new door handle brackets. The dealer has ordered the parts, so they'll notify me when they come in.

Thanks Gary! I'll let you guys know what happens with my car. I still haven't checked to see if there's bracket rust though.. ;-D My car is staying in my dark garage until I get new tires (tried to get some the other day and that didn't go so well!)
