Page 43 of the 2016 FIT Owner's Guide states that the air recirculation mode is on the left side and the fresh air mode on the right side.

The fresh air icon is a white outline of a car and the recirculation icon is a black car - in the manual.

The icons are reversed on my car. The black icon is on the the right side and the fresh air icon is on the left side. The mode control dial instructs to use the recirculation icon when defrosting the windows.

This works, but the car interior doesn't warm up much in the recirculation mode. When I switch to the fresh air (white) icon, the windows start to fog up.

I'm confused.

pp 154 of 2016 owner's manual, heating and cooling system, icons are as OP says and the colours are reversed in the manual, but the actual icon is correct.

 

I should have put on my reading glasses to look at the arrows on my car's icons instead of going by the color of the icons and the guide. The icons in the owner's guide are switched.
