Hatch Won't Unlock

Hatch Won't Unlock
I am not able to open the hatch (It automatically locks) with the door unlock button on the proximity fob or the actuator on the door. The only way I can get into the back hatch is if I have the keyless entry fob in proximity to the hatch. Help!

I tried to do what you say, but for some reason, I simply cannot parse your words.

I really appreciate your thorough investigation as it relates to this potential oversight. It scares me that someone might post a question like that on here and not have appropriately utilized the functionality of the available equipment.
Short answer: Yes. It used to work fine, but the only way the rear hatch now opens is if you have the proximity fob on your person.

This is a safety issue. You'll need to get it fixed at your dealer. In an emergency you might forget how to open the hatch door. Or you run and emergency services cannot open the hatch, then they will break the glass.
All kinds of people post here. Many new owners have questions, so nothing is out of bounds. We start from the lowest level and work up. As a new poster you have no track record so we assume a newby. if you stick around we'll know better.

So I just got out of the dealer. To be more specific, the ONLY way the rear hatchback would open was if the vehicle was not running and I had the proximity fob on my person. You could not use the unlock button from inside the vehicle, and if the engine was running, it did not unlock with the fob either.
They said the L rear locking sensor, located in or near the door, was faulty.
Hope that helps someone else!
