Problems getting my iPhone connected via USB
Problems getting my iPhone connected via USB
I have been running this with a lightning to USB but today I could not get any sound with streaming music, podcast etc. I rebooted the phone and even restarted the car (sometimes I have found that resets the radio.)
I want this feature as it allows CD quality playback from my phone which bluetooth is compressed.
What gives?
This is an EX car.

For the record(s) I solved this issue. It turns out that in order to work you need to have songs (song?) in the music app. I had deleted them all in order to save space. Once I added them back it worked fine.

It should be a problem with the default settings of the iPhone. I suggest that you still download and convert the songs to MP3 format, and then connect to the car device via USB, so that you can play the songs. This is also more convenient.
Then I got to thinking about the time many years ago when some U2 music ad kept popping up on the iphone and wouldn’t stop or go away until I clicked somehing or let it download. I have zero music on my iphone & don’t even know how to use that feature, but every time my podcast finished that stupid U2 crap somehow started playing and wouldn’t quit until I started another podcast or switched to radio. I finally got so irritated that I stopped the car and started clicking on menus until I somehow found a way to permanently delete the U2 noise. That was a month ago and I just realized that was when my podcasts quit working.
I never used an ipod and have my CDs in the car for music. I just did a google search trying to connect that obnoxious U2 stuff that wouldn’t go away with my iphone / podcast play problem and up pops the entire story of U2 forcing the “Songs of Innocence” album on iPhone users, apparently the first and only time that has been done. Apparently it was quite a controversy at the time and widely condemned by many iPhone users who didn’t want it & couldn’t get rid of it. Apparently having that U2 download forced on me is what enabled my pods to play, and finally figuring out how to delete it inadvertently killed my Spotify pods. Now I just need to figure out how to download something acoustic I might actually enjoy between podcasts and maybe I’ll be back in business. Thanks!
I hate invasive ads with a passion. You may be stuck if your favorite podcasts are only available on Spotify, but iOS has its own podcast app you should check out. There may be others in the app store.
