No handed oil funnel

Both the Fit and my wife's Toyota have this strainer right under the oil cap. I get why, but you have to hold on to the funnel while you pour oil.. and yeah.. I'm an old guy and it runs everywhere! I just did my 13th oil change and I'm tired of it!

So, off to RockAuto.com... and $4 later for the Fit and $3 later for wife's Toyota and we got a cheap solution. I drilled a vent hole, but probably didn't need to.

very cool!

i have this short and wide funnel and i dont have this problem on the Fits.

but i do have issue with the Golfs.. luckily on that car there is a hood damper close to the oil filler so i twist tie the funnel to the hood damper while i use both hands to pour oil from the larger jugs.

I found a collapsible soft rubber funnel that can be extended to several heights. It works well, but I stand in admiration of robs' solution. :-)

On some cars I owned, I was known to have suspended a funnel and spout from the hood (bonnet) latch.

I used coat hanger wire to hang the funnel at the proper height. Have I aged myself? (Most coat hangers are PLASTIC now!)

PS: the vent hole in the cap undoubtedly makes the job go quicker...

carbuff - i still get wire coat hangers at the dry cleaners so you're safe! lol

someone should make a 3D printed funnel that just screws into the oil filler.

SLOW clap..... bravo.......
The strainer was weird at 1st, but gotten used to it. Its has saved me once. Caught the foil wrap that somehow floated into the jug when I opened it. Love the enginuity on the cap though.

You guys use funnels?

I don't like to have to clean them.

easy.. just place funnel on the jug you are recycling the old oil, spray brake / MAF cleaner into the funnel to wash down the oil into the jug.
