Sunroof Worth the Money?
I thought technically we have moonroofs, but I guess it's semantics...
I use the moonroof pretty much daily. Like someone mentioned I enjoy the fresh air coming into the car. Many times the moonroof provides enough fresh air, that I don't even crack the windows. The extra light is nice and I have opened up the cover without opening the moonroof.
As far as structural integrity, I couldn't care less on a commuter car if it's bending 5% more than a non moonroof equipped vehicle. And with the random glass explosions, what are the chances? I bet I getting bit by a shark is a higher chance
My boss rode with me to lunch and he's 6'3. He didn't complain about the headroom, there was enough. His complaint was the seats didn't slide far enough back. He tried out the back seat and was actually more comfortable .
Good thing I'm not that tall to share his complaint, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the Fit.
So if you want it, buy it. If you don't, then don't. My last 2 vehicles have had a moonroof and I'm used to owning one. If the trim level I wanted didn't have it, I wouldn't be heartbroken either or felt I had to jump to the next level just to get it. At the time of purchasing my 2015, the cost jump to LX to EX was easy to justify with the amenities given. I don't think I'd buy an EX again if I were to buy a 2018. I would get the Sport to avoid the Honda Sensing crap they bundled in.

Ive never liked sunroofs and Id stoked I can get the Sport model now and get some of the features I wanted from the EX but without the sunroof.
Give me T tops and Im in heaven. My Miata was alright with the removable hard top too. Had a Geo Tracker with the soft top and that was OK to deal with. I just really hate sunroofs.

I like having air ventilate out the top when driving since I don't like A/C nor the buffeting with the windows open With the air on recirc and no fan, you get a pretty good airflow with just a crack if the sunroof. The pros of this alone outweigh the cons for me.
The coolest I ever had was a crank sunroof on an '82 Volvo we somehow acquired. It was magnificent, seemed to really open up the top. My '02 GTI sunroof seemed much smaller but still nice, I had it wide open maybe three or four days a week in season. I got the EX mostly for the touchscreen (disappointing in retrospect) and was ambivalent about the wheels or sunroof though I use it a lot in vent mode and an occasional nice day.
Technically, a sunroof is opaque and made out of metal or composite and painted to match the color of the car. A moonroof is glass and obviously transparent. Many use the words interchangeably, but the above is what the industry goes by. I believe the Fit has a moonroof?
In the past times, I had a several cars with sunroofs, I never had any problems with sunroofs.
I use the EX-L's sunroof all the time to vent the car all year (except rain days). Once in awhile, I open the sunroof during full moons.

Nice to know. I just figured if I’m out in the daytime, it’s a sunroof. If I’m driving at night, it’s a moonroof. Hey, it makes as much sense as the industry designation.
u're probably right. My moon roof has a slider in the headliner to shade the sun. It shades the moon too unless I slide it open.
Rather have the tin roof, just don't use it much and every one I've owned in 40 years of driving eventually had issues.. Some model cars when they get older actually demand a premium for the guys building race cars to get the solid roof. Which has paid off for me since I drive the wheels off most cars before I sell them..
Always hated squinting through the extra glare. No sunroof for me. YMMV
Also, had a CRX Si and the sunroof bit the dust twice. We got over 250 thousand miles out of it when all was said and done, but still...
