USDM 2018 Fit Front Bumper onto 2017 older Fit

Hi FF,

I have been thinking about what parts would be required for a direct swap of the current 2018 model Fit's front bumber onto 2015-2017 Fits. So far im thinking front bumper cover, grill, bumper support(s). I'll have to do a deep dive comparison between part numbers soon unless someone has beat me to it!

Only reason I am asking is I've been thinking of replacing my front bumper to a another 2015-17 bumper, but the 2018's look soo intriguing now.. not sure if the money is worth it to do... thoughts?

btw, i plan on registering the GK at this year's 2018 Eibach Meet in So.Cal. I need to finish the aethetics (bumper, side skirts, pending misc parts to install)

Cheers.

Interesting how opinions differ. I prefer the simplicity of the older... plus more paint equals more chance of road damage.

I also looked into this when 18' Sport parts started to get added into their online parts database. At the time, all the parts for Sport trim had a glitch (or human error) pricing and I took advantage. I was able to purchase 2 sets of sideskirts, a front lip spoiler, fog light garnish, and rear diffuser for stupid cheap prices.

Anyways, at the time, I thought about converting as well but have been putting it off. From comparing the 15-17 vs 18 I've circled all the parts (not including clips and hardware) that are different between the two.

Front bumper:
Aside from the obvious bumper cover, lower grill and fog garnish, not much has changed underneath. You can still use the same beam and add the foam insert (#20) the two brackets (#17,19). As for #7 and #9 they LOOK to be the same as 15-17 but the part number are different.

Front Grill:
Everything is different here including emblems.

Air ducts:
Also have been updated, not sure how much of an effect there is on performance but I am curious.

Headlights: slightly different inside but the overall dimensions have not changed.

Fender:
Same as 15-17.

Hood:
Also same as 15-17.

Hope this can help with your conversion!

Firstly, HOLY SHIT ON YOUR COME UP! I wish I had stumbled upon that deal, jelous! lol

Any who thanks so much for sharing all this great info and I hope you get your conversion on soon! Hope you plan on documenting it! It seems we wont know until somebody experiments already.. I dont think I can afford all the parts at dealer prices, but would gladly take your parts off your hands if you ever change your mind! Anyways good luck with your conversion, I'll try to see if I can get lucky on used parts... Cheers!

Personally I think the '18 bumper is excessively busy and much less attractive than the earlier bumper.

I think he prefers the pre-facelift like yourself. I'm torn between the two... Definitely like the idea of being able to use a genuine lip on the 18+ but prefer the style and simplicity of 15-17. I don't think I will be converting anytime soon unless I come across a cheap bumper cover.

Correct. I chose 2017 over 2018 for a few reasons... one of them being the front treatment. I get Honda HFP took advantage of a facelift year to slap some Mugen-inspired sportiness on the standard Fit (especially the Sport), but I only lust after the HFP shift knob and the JP flag colored HFP suspension. Those are worth copping and pairing with some JDM bits.
