Has anyone been able to figure this out? Or what the HondaLink app can be used for in general besides a calc?

I'd love to be able to use google maps, check emails/read texts via some app on my touch screen.

Apple Play seems fairly limited and I'm not sure how to get the best out of the software.

FYI, I have an Iphone 6s

appleplay works best with siri running (voice rec) for texting, contacts, and finding destinations. usually it is long press on the voice recognition (audio commands) button.

for music, i just usually go through the menus via touch screen.. itunes, spotify, pandora.
