2016 Fit EX rear Drum brake noise after hard driving

Anyone notice after driving or hard braking, the rear drum brake make some noise. It is noticeably loud after hard stop and it squeak right before the car comes to a complete stop for half second. When you drag the car with the handbrake, it is very loud too.. I am not sure if the rear brake need service, the car has 22k miles. Do you know if cleaning it work? Or you think the brake cylinder is bad... The sound is not heard during braking as there is zero noise so nothing should be rubbing on the drum, it happens just right before it stop.

Surely all your drum brakes need (after 22K miles) is to take the drum off, lube the brake-shoe-to-backing-plate points, then re-adjust.

Here's what I do (GD, but it still applies):

A bad brake cylinder would be leaking, that's a visual inspection once the drum is off.

Thank you so much for your help, I took the drum brake apart and clean and lubricate it .. it seems like the factory never put any lubricant on it.. now the sound goes away..

Amazing help! thanks!

When i press the brake when the car speed is quite low, i hear a noise at the back. The car mechanic says its a problem with the car suspension. I have the car since 2 months and it is a second hand car. The noise is louder than at the beginning. Do you guys think he's right?

^^ Can't easily tell without hearing it.

Is the noise 'rotational' or a single THUNK or KNOCK?

Pull the handbrake while holding the release buttom for safety at low speed. If you hear rotational noise or it is one time noise before the car stop. Then it is the brake. Suspension noise happen during driving with no brake apply.

I'm sorry but my english is quite bad and I am unable to explain correctly the multiple problems i have with my car
I don't really understand what you mean by rotational
The noise repeats itself until the car is completely stopped

Then it's not suspension noise.

Rotational = tied to one revolution of the tires. (repeats every 5 feet of travel or so)

Also, we need to know if you have Drum or Disc brakes on the rear? (USA had drums but many other markets had discs)

The front brakes are discs, so if the hardware behind the rear wheels looks similar, that will answer that question. :-)

Will definitely need to see a car mechanic, someone else and not my usual car mechanic since he thinks its suspension.
As wmo168 said suspension noise happens when we don't apply the brake. In my case, it's when i apply the brake to stop the car completely that the noises happen.

So it must be the brake, do you have DRUM or DISC in the back?
