Looks like hell and not repairable locally for less than $4500 which is not worth it.

Rest of the car is mint in usability, not so mint in looks as I've scuffed much of the plastic over the years but it all works!
My 2016 developed rust just months past the expiration of the 5 year warranty. I called Honda but they said I was SOL. So far its only one spot on each rear fender. I'm not paying to have it fixed. The parts stores sell a spray-on WoolWax coating. I'm going to use that to extend the life of the car. I am not happy.

Here is my $0.02.
1) What do you mean by "Flooring it". If you need to put the pedal to the metal to get on the highway safely? Do it. If the car can't do that, it was destine for repair.
2) If you are flooring the pedal and dropping the clutch, 1 mile was too many for that.

The Honda Fit is an "Econo Box". Not built for speed. It is built to get you around from A to B and back again cheaply and reliably. Speed, Cost, Reliability. Choose two. The Fit is low cost, low speed and high reliability. You want more speed, spend more money. Don't want to spend more money, you reduce reliability. Perhaps I over simplified but you get my meaning.

I see GK5 as a nimble and even slightly sporty little car, and the engine is willing to rev and it provides most fun between 4000 rpm and redline. It is fun, so I don't see any reason why not to enjoy it.
There are other cars and engines, which give best performance utilizing the torque at lower rpms and using higher rpm just makes noise. Then there is no sense revving to redline.

I think electric throttles have pretty much done away with "flooring it." These days I'd be more concerned about hanging out in the high rpm range too often.

Stupid question. It's not about being comfortable at certain mileage. I don't floor it ever. It increases engine and other components' wear and increases the likelihood of the total engine failure (e.g. breaking of a connecting rode, or a piston).
Drive the vehicle as gently as possible and it will return a long life and be reliable.

Do make a paper airplane and throw it against the wall?

Stupid advice. Just park it and throw your keys in the river. 0% chance of 'total engine failure' lol

I'll say this: if I know my valves are in spec and my spark plugs are tight I'll floor it whenever I need to.

Flooring it at any mileage should be fine, so long as you are not lugging it.
My little 1.5 liter doesn't like low rpm, so if say at only 1500 to 2500 rpm, i am very gentle on the throttle.
If i plan to hammer the gas, i downshift to get the revs over 3000 first.

My Accord has 235,000 miles on it. I have 0 reservations about flooring it and will do so on an open enough stretch of road with almost 100% certainty. Mileage doesn't matter as much as most people think it does, and it has very little to do with condition of the engine unless you have 450k+ or something. And even if it did, I'd still floor it. I had a 99 Toyota 4Runner (2.7, 5 speed, 4x4) with 450k and it drove fine. I'd floor that too.
